Job Description:
The Material Buyer is responsible for purchasing material and supplies and maintaining the MRP/ERP system relative to department functions and position responsibilities.
Essential
Responsibilities:
Purchase components, raw materials, equipment and services based on requisitions generated by MRP/ERP and/or hand requisitions Develop and maintain supplier qualifications Negotiate with suppliers on current contracts and/or new contracts Source vendors for best pricing, quality and delivery time Develop best practice relationships with suppliers/vendors Process requisitions and update status of orders in production plan Coordinate activities with inventory, management, and warehouse teams Arrange transport of goods and track shipments to ensure timely delivery Ensure that daily reports are maintained in a timely Maintain supplier cost, delivery and quality measures Manage corrective actions and supplier quality Escalate supply chain risk issues to Supply Chain Manager Work on special projects and assignments as delegated by Supply Chain Manager Support the planning, production, and sales departments Comply with and help maintain ISO policies and procedures Required Job Skills:
Strong interpersonal communication skills, both written and oral Capable of learning and using MRP/ERP system to support all relevant business processes Ability to work successfully in a team environment Multitasking skills for handling multiple vendors Strong analytical skills to support independent judgement and data-based decision making Ability to manage priorities, meet deadlines and fulfill assigned responsibilities Possess initiative and be self-motivation, understanding the need for urgency and accountability Strong customer service orientation, with both internal and external customers Intermediate skills with Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook Education and
Experience:
This position requires as a minimum a High School education and diploma with additional training.
